If you need more verification this car’s legit, we have the ORIGINAL Protect-O-Plate showing the PH code L72 engine and M21 four speed manual, and both the engine and transmission have the VIN stamped on them. Both the warranty booklet and invoice show the car’s from Ricketts Chevrolet Sales, Inc. in Fox Lake, IL. The original packet also contains the original AM/FM radio guide, owner’s manual, accessories guide, AM/FM station guide and the original warranty booklet envelope. We have the ’66 dealer brochure, too! The original owner, Frank Kwiatkowski, picked the car up on January 28, 1966 and obviously took great care of his new baby as it sports only 39,900 miles today!

Fast forward to 2004. The Corvette remained largely original and well kept but the cosmetics were lacking and a car this special deserves a full restoration. The motor and transmission were pulled, rebuilt and detailed, retaining nearly every original component bolted on in St. Louis. The engine and bell-housing have a high quality coat of orange paint on them aside from the big aluminum Winters 3885069 intake up top. New reproduction GM hoses and clamps feed coolant to the re-cored original radiator while correct reproduction ignition components down to the spark plug wires supply the voltage. Correct finishes and inspection marks are in their correct places. The original #3247 Holley 4150 carburetor sits under a new reproduction air cleaner assembly (the original comes with the car) and sports the 427/450HP decal the car would have had if GM’s brass hadn’t underrated the engine to keep under the government’s radar!

Slide inside the immaculate interior. You’re sitting on perfect (and very comfortable) seats while new carpet is below you and perfect door panels are at your sides. The instrument panel and console are perfect, as are the gauges. Pop open the original glove box and find the original tire pressure decal—it was nice enough to leave alone! The teak wheel in your hands is perfect, as is the horn button and telescoping column lock nut. New Corvette floor mats are in place, and the original headrests (a very rare option) are in excellent shape. This is an extremely nice place to while away some miles!

Mosport Green is a gorgeous silvery paint which is as perfect as it is rare. The color was chosen to commemorate Corvette’s racing victories at Canada’s premier race track, and on a 427/425HP car it’s certainly fitting. Sight down the arrow straight, crack and chip free body and find NO issues. Panel gaps are excellent including the headlight doors. The knockoff wheels are fully restored to perfection and are surrounded by brand new gold line tires. The off-road exhaust pipes are in excellent shape and sound fantastic. All chrome pieces including the badges are perfect and the stainless moldings are shinier than new. This is a stunning car from front to back.

Underneath the mechanicals are in excellent, fully restored condition. All lines and hoses are brand new and the brakes and fuel system are fully rebuilt. The suspensions were fully detailed and look as new. Again, this is a concours level car. Few 427/425 cars still have their original drive-trains, and fewer still have their original paperwork! With its amazing cosmetics and a mere 50 test miles since its restoration this is THE ’66 Corvette to own!
