1975 Ferrari 246 GT Dino

Description:

Lot 161 Registration Number: UK registered Chassis Number: TBA The classic and nowadays much sought-after Ferrari 246 Dino GT was named after Enzo Ferrari‘s son Alfredino, who died in 1956, aged 24 years. Enzo Ferrari credits his son with the inspiration for a series of successful small and medium capacity V6 racing engines built by Ferrari from 1956, and in turn the name was given to a new line of mid-engined production Ferrari V6 coupés which first went on sale in 1969 with the two litre 206 Dino GT. The definitive 246 Dino, with its 2.4 litre V6 engine, appeared in late 1969, and its 175bhp at 7,000rpm and 160lb/ft at 5,500rpm provided a top speed of 141mph and zero to 60mph acceleration in 7.9 seconds. Designed by Pininfarina, the delightful bodywork was built in steel by Scaglietti. It covered a straightforward chassis of tubular steel which carried wishbone/coil spring independent suspension at each corner. The compact engine, with four chain-driven overhead camshafts, was mounted transversely above the five-speed gearbox and just ahead of the rear axle line, allowing both a comfortable cockpit and usable boot space. With its flexible engine, uncomplicated chassis and outstanding handling, the 246 Dino GT is a car to combine the best of both worlds; it is a practical Ferrari. Fewer than 4,000 were built (about 1,200 of them the detachable roof spyder GTS version) before the introduction of the slightly larger, and completely re-styled V8 engined 308 Dino in 1973. The example on offer here today was constructed in 1975. Finished in traditional Rosso with black leather trim, it benefits from a high-quality restoration by marquee specialists Terry Hoyle Limited. Pictures of which can be found in the car’s history file showing the car in bar chassis form. With a believed genuine 57,000 miles on the odometer, this is a very clean example of this classic Ferrari, ready to be enjoyed by its new owner.

1950 Allard K2 Roadster - Collector Car For Sale

Description:

Lot 159 Registration Number: EU Registered Chassis Number: 91K-2108 If hot rods had been invented in England, Sidney Herbert Allard would have been their originator. In 1936 he built a successful trials machine from Ford and Bugatti parts. His 1949 National British Hill Climb Championship came in a loud and fearsome special with four rear wheels, powered by a war surplus V8 Steyr tank engine. Quite an achievement! Building on the success of the KI model, Allard launched a new K2 model in 1950. The K2 had a more modern appearance with a Healey-type front grille and large bumpers. Although the K2 only had two seats, it did now have a small luggage boot at the rear making it slightly more practical. Various American V8 engines were available. A 3.6 litre Ford unit was standard, but buyers could specify Mercury, Chrysler or even Cadillac V8 engines. The K2 stayed in production until 1952, and by then 119 examples had been built. In the U.S., Allard‘s creations were quickly adopted by contenders in the nascent roadracing movement, establishing an exceptional record of successes. The pavement-pounding K2 is one of the most rare and sought after of all the Allards, and today the flathead Ford versions with original Allard Speed equipment are are rare indeed. With very few K2s produced, they are tremendously desirable cars, of which this particular K2 is an outstanding example. The 1950 K2 Allard on offer here is one of the most rare and desirable configurations, fitted with a 4375 cc Ford V8 Flathead and fitted with the incredibly rare original Sidney Allard Speed equipment. Purchased in Australia by the present owner in 2003, is has since been a successful entrant in competition events, and was mentioned in Australian Motor Sport Magazine as having placed 3rd in the NSW Hillclimb Championship and 2nd in the Silverdale Hillclimb Championship . The car has also been comprehensively restored by its present owner, a machine tool manufacturer. It has recently taken part in several Italian road rallies and is fully sorted. Fitted with alloy ribbed hi-compression cylinder heads and alloy dual carburetor inlet manifold designed for the ubiquitous Stromberg 97 double throat carburetor, but now fitted with European twin throat Solexes. The usual three-speed Ford transmission was replaced in period by a 4-speed synchronized unit coming from an Armstrong-Siddley. Finished in Rosso Bordeau with a red leather interior and sitting on Dunlop 16" 60 spoke wire wheels fitted with period correct L section Dunlop Racing tires, this Allard is sure to leave an impression wherever it goes, and will be eligible for all the great historic events of today.

1989 Ferrari F40 - Classic Car For Sale

Description:

Lot 146 Registration Number: UK registered Chassis Number: ZFFGJ34B00078375 The F40 needs no introduction. It is the quintessential ‘ultra car‘, developed by Ferrari to blast their competitors out of the limelight. In 1984 Ferrari had launched their spectacular 288 GTO, a limited production car which was to wrest the title of World‘s Fastest Production Car away from Lamborghini, and which had been developed for Group B racing. Michelotto were engaged by Ferrari to develop the car for competition use, with close collaboration by the factory and the Evolution version was extensively tested. However, a change of direction by the F.I.A. saw the abandonment of Group B racing and the GTO was obsolete even before it had turned a wheel in competition. The development work was not wasted, however. It is well-known that the F40 was launched in 1987 to celebrate Ferrari‘s fortieth year as a manufacturer. This car was to be Enzo Ferrari‘s swansong; introduced in the year before the great man died. It was the last car sanctioned personally by him and was a fitting testimony to the no-compromise character who has become one of motoring‘s leading figureheads. The F40 was a car in the great Ferrari tradition of high-performance sports cars that was equally at home on the road or the race track. Following in the footsteps of such legends as the 250 Tour de France, SWB and GTO, it has successfully competed in world-class endurance racing while at the same time holding the title of "World‘s Fastest Production Car". Further competition success at national and club level in many countries, including the IMSA Championship in the USA, has contributed to this incredible car‘s outstanding reputation. This F40 was manufactured in 1989 and was first registered in the UK in 1997. Supplied with a V5 registration document, MoT test certificate valid until April 2010 and detailed history file with main dealer records, this F40 is fitted with non-adjustable suspension and pre catalytic converter. In 2010 Bob Houghton, Ferrari specialists since 1981, carried out a full service and road test on the car and replaced the tank bags. Having covered 10,000 miles from new, with all original paintwork and seals, this unmolested F40 is described by the vendor as being in excellent condition throughout. Evidently, this is a very well presented and maintained low mileage F40, which in today’s market is proving an increasingly rare automobile to find.

1972 Lamborghini Espada II

Description:

Lot 128 Registration Number: XBM 339K Chassis Number: 8748 In 1968 Lamborghini introduced its first four seater model, the Espada. With typically outrageous styling the Espada, thanks to Bertone, featured all-round independent suspension and disc brakes. The Espada was originally fitted with a 4L 325 bhp (242 kW) V12 engine, fully independent suspension and four wheel disc brakes. Most transmissions were manual, and the Espada also introduced one of the first automatic transmissions able to absorb the torque of a large sporting V12. It had unusual gearing, with 3 ratios: drive, 1 and reverse. During its 10 year production the car underwent some changes, and three different series were produced. These were the S1 (1968-1970), the S2 (1970-1972) and the S3 (1972-1978). Each model featured engine power improvements, but only minor details were changed with the exterior design. The interior was altered dramatically between each model. An all new dashboard and steering wheel was installed for the S2, and the interior was again revamped for the S3. In 1970, power assisted steering was offered as an option, and in 1974 an automatic transmission was also offered. In 1975 impact bumpers had to be installed to meet United States safety requirements, and some people consider cars produced with them to be the S4, but Lamborghini did not officially change the designation. Near the end of the Espada’s life, Bertone designed a four-door prototype, which was never put into production. The Series II example on offer here was first registered in 1972 and taken off the road in 1981 while the owner was abroad. It remained in storage for 28 years in a heated garage supported on jacks to keep the suspension unloaded and the engine was turned over periodically to prevent it from seizing. The current owner purchased the vehicle in 2009 intending to restore it; however he has now found that he has too many other projects and has decided to sell the car. Described by the owner as a very original car in fair overall condition, it is believed to have only covered around 60,000 miles from new. Although roadworthy as demonstrated by a recent MoT test pass, the car would benefit from a full mechanical service in the hands of its new owner. Finished in green with a black leather interior, this Espada comes with a V5 document and an MoT certificate valid until March 2011. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire one of these modern classics to use and improve or as the basis for a full restoration to concours condition. Estimate: £15000 - £20000

1907 Orel C8 4-Seater Wagonette - Antique Car For Sale

Description:

Lot 121 Registration Number: BS 8320 Chassis Number: 269 Automobiles Orel was founded by Mr. Orel in Argenteuil, France in 1905. The first Orel was a light car powered by an 8hp V-twin engine, and in 1907 the makers added a 7hp single and a 12hp four. Two of the singles ran in that year’s Coupe des Voiturettes, but without success. Orels grew larger over the next few years and by 1912 the range consisted of 8/10hp 2-cylinder and 14 and 18hp fours, all made by Buchet. For 1913 Orel joined the ranks of the sleeve-valve brigade using a 2½ litre 20/24hp Knight 4-cylinder engine. Sadly Mr. Orel was killed in the Great War bringing an end to the production of cars bearing his name. This vehicle spent most of its life in New Zealand, having only 3 owners until 2000, and is believed to be the only example of this model in existence. It was found in a barn on the North Island in 1959 and was left in its original state until 2000 when a restoration was completed to a very high standard by Tim Moore. It has a V-twin engine, producing 8 or 9 horsepower and a 3 speed gearbox with chain-drive. It is a four seater, however, the rear seats can be easily removed to enable the vehicle to be used as a utility. The car is fitted with oil lamps front and rear and is described by the owner as being in excellent overall condition. Included with the vehicle are photographs showing the restoration and even some of the original owner. With road tax valid until April 2011 and an MoT certificate valid until May 2011, this represents an opportunity to acquire a unique and interesting piece of vintage French motoring history. Estimate: £30000 - £40000

1949 Alvis 3 Lite Prototype - Classic Car For Sale

Description:

Alvis 3 Lite Prototype - Formerly the property of Mr W M Dunn Lot 119 Registration Number: 4949HP Chassis Number: 23803 Three experimental prototype Three Litres were constructed prior to 23803 using a TA14 chassis and TA21 chassis. It is believed that this car was fabricated during 1949 but it was first registered as JWK290 on 7th March 1950. 23803 was built along the general lines of the TA21 chassis production. However, this chassis has far less corner and edge finish and was hand crafted by John Thompson Motor Pressings of Wolverhampton. Interestingly, 23804, its sister car competed in the 1951 Monte-Carlo Rally and was the Geneva Motor Show car, with 23803 at Geneva as the demonstrator, but there are rumours that 23804 disappeared in Kent many years ago. Both cars were completed with a modified Mulliners four-door saloon body, in appearance a modified version of the TA14 body, and both took up press and publicity duties during the early 1950s. Eventually 23803 was transferred to W.M.Dunn, the Alvis chief designer as his company car. It is believed, from the Works Build Records, that Mr Dunn had the car mechanically rebuilt to an updated specification with an engine and gearbox change subsequent to its media duties. It was used by the works until 1959 and in 1960 the car was rebuilt by the factory for Mr Dunn using the 23803 chassis and incorporating TD21 mechanical parts. As far as we know, Mr Dunn drove the car happily for the rest of his days. Subsequently, the car found its way in to the collection of Dennis Norton of Bromsgrove, a retired B.M.C engineer and museum owner, where the car was restored back to the condition and finish similar to that during W.M.Dunn’s ownership. As he knew that it was an important part of Alvis history, Mr Norton took on the dismantled car, having been packed into boxes in 1994 and went about a ground up restoration, of which pictures can be found in the history file. An interesting and rare item of Alvis History that has not only been preserved for posterity, but has come back to life and has a current MoT test certificate. 4949HP is one of the few Works development specials to have survived, as many of them were broken up by owners or not released by the Works. Included in the car’s history file is the original buff log book, proving W.M. Dunn’s ownership, bills and receipts for work completed, pictures of the car in period with Mr Dunn, period build sheets and a detailed history of the car by Nick Simpson, renowned Alvis specialist. Estimate: £15000 - £20000

1979 Ferrari 512BB - Classic Car For Sale

Description:

Registration no: HLK77T Chassis no: 25571 Price: Refer Department Ferrari is sensitive to criticism and to intimations of lack of prestige. The Maserati and Lamborghini factories in and near Modena had already put into production sophisticated mid-engined cars while Ferrari was still selling the Daytona as its premier sports car. Unquestionably the Maserati Bora and the Lamborghini Miura were stealing sales from Ferrari and so, to achieve superiority in this state of the art sector, Ferrari developed a new car from scratch. The engine was a 4.4 litre flat 12 cylinder unit derived from Ferrari‘s then Formula One engine, whilst coachwork was a sleek and aggressive berlinetta design by Pininfarina. Driving the new car, the Boxer, was a special treat. Compared with the Daytona it was light, responsive and a little more forgiving. However, like the Daytona, it had an abundance of power and demanded the utmost in concentration from its driver were its outer limits to be explored. The usual Ferrari development and improvement programme took place and culminated in a new, more powerful Boxer in 1976. Called the 512BB, this revised model used an enlarged version of the original Boxer engine bored out to 4.9 litres, thus enabling Ferrari to increase horsepower slightly while at the same time achieving a substantially higher torque rating. In 1981 the glorious banks of Weber carburettors gave way to super efficient Bosch fuel injection in order to meet American emissions requirements. Delivered new in 1979, this 512BB has covered only 19,000 miles from new and is described by the vendor as in excellent order throughout. In 2005 HLK77T was restored by renowned Ferrari specialists, Racing Technologies (now known as Autofficina) with full photographic record and proofs of work. The engine and suspension were fully rebuilt and interior re-trimmed. Offered in the classic colour combination of Rosso Corsa with Nero leather interior and Alcantara dash, this vehicle comes with original alloy wheels, V5 registration document, air conditioning and current MoT. Without question, the finest we have seen for many years.

1938 Lancia Aprilla Mk I Lusso - Antique Car For Sale

Description:

Lot 114 Registration Number: NSJ 550 Chassis Number: 38L/8768 The Lancia Aprilia was one of the first cars designed using a wind tunnel in collaboration with Battista Farina and Politecnico di Torino, achieving a record low drag coefficient of 0.47. Production commenced in February 1937, the month in which the firm‘s founder died: this was the last of Vincenzo Lancia‘s designs, featuring four pillarless doors and a 1352 cc V4 motor providing 47 bhp. The first series, as offered here, was built from 1937 to 1939 with 10,354 examples rolling off the production line. Built in 1938, this very advanced pre-war sporting saloon was driven up to Scotland from Southampton in the 1980s, where it became everyday transport for its new owner, a retired nurse. It then passed in to the hands of a motor engineer and some 10 years ago was bought by a prominent Scottish lawyer, who stored the car. The Lancia was then bought from a Hereford auction by a retired engineer, who totally stripped the car down to the last nut and bolt. The complete body was given the ultimate rust treatment which involved 3 tank dips, one to remove the paint, one to kill the rust and one electrophoretic coat which is the same process undertaken on a modern car. The engine, gearbox, suspension and brakes were also rebuilt and the body was repainted and rebuilt with a new interior. A comprehensive history file is supplied with the car and this little Lancia offers very attractive pre war motoring. Estimate: £16000 - £20000

1972 Triumph TR6 - Classic Car For Sale

Description:

Last of the classic open headlamp TR sports cars beginning with the TR2 in 1954, the Triumph TR6 debuting for the U.S. market in 1969 quickly became one of the most iconic two seat roadsters produced, and served to redefine the generation of two seat roadsters which would follow. Fully occupied by other British Leyland projects the traditional designer for Triumph, Michelotti, was unable to attend to the new TR design and Triumph was forced to turn to the German coach builder Karmann for fresh architecture to flaunt the new 2.5 liter in-line 6 cylinder engine. Karmann managed to retain the TR’s basic inner structure, execute the new body design, and manufacture the necessary tooling all within 14 months, a fairly short time frame considering the TR6 was produced for more than 7 years. This 1972 Damson Maroon on Black interior Triumph TR6 sits in nicely detailed, correct and very well kept overall condition. Hailing from dry Southern California, and sporting its “Blue Plates”, this enthusiast grade English roadster boasts a very healthy well-maintained drive-train, fully functional electronics including all instruments, rust free body and chassis, correct convertible top with reflective strip, nice chrome bumpers, new tires, MOMO wood steering wheel, recent interior restoration as well as good overall paint and body fit and finish, clean undercarriage, spare tire and jack, and so much more. Fitted with correct 2.5 liter, 152 CID in-line 6 cylinder engine, correct dual “Stromberg” carburetors, 4 speed manual transmission, and more, this TR6 is the true embodiment of what a 2 seat roadster is all about and is likely one of the nicest and highly drivable cars available anywhere at any price. From the trademark sound of the robust and powerful in-line 6 cylinder engine to the feel of the wood steering wheel in your hands and the look of the trademark wood-grain dash and gauges, there can be little doubt that TR6 delivers more open top fun for the money than almost any other car on the road. For the true English car aficionado that demands only the best, there will be few opportunities to acquire such a fantastic and uniquely high caliber vehicle at such an entry level price. These cars do not sit on the market long, seize this opportunity while you can! Odometer currently reads 59,455 miles and according to previous owner is believed to be original mileage. 1971 Mercedes Benz 280SE 3.5 Convertible - Classic Car For Sale

Description:

When introduced in the early 1960s, all Mercedes-Benz W111-chassis ‘S-Class’ cars were powered by the company’s reliable 6-cylinder engine. Displacing just over 2.2 liters with a cross-flow cylinder head and overhead camshaft, their performance can only be described as stately. Later developments in engineering as well as the introduction of the W108 chassis that replaced the W111 sedans also influenced the styling of higher-displacement coupes and cabriolets. However, despite another few increases in power, the high-priced 280SE with a top that went down was still not competitive. That reputation for solidly-built but lackluster-performing automobiles changed dramatically when the 230-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-8 was introduced in Germany for the 1970 model year. This car offered mighty performance to match its grand-touring, if not sporting, stance. Based on numerous developments that stemmed in no small part from the W100 and W109s 6.3 liter V-8 introduced a few years earlier, the W111 280SE chassis was up to the power. Like its predecessors, the body structure was of unitized construction. Mercedes had perfected its independent front suspension with coil springs and refined its low-pivot swing-axle independent rear. The result was a solid, rigid, quiet and stiff platform that was ideally suited to form the base of a luxury automobile. The success of the first V-8 cars were built on the strong foundation from better US marketing of Mercedes’ S-Class cars that really took off in earnest with the introduction of the 111-series 220SEb coupes and convertibles for the 1962 model year. The 1962 220SEb evolved, almost without visual changes, into the 250SE, and then the 280SE coupes and convertibles. The conservative styling did not include the vestigial tail fins of the period sedans, and endured right up to 1970, when Mercedes lowered the front grille a bit and created the all-aluminum, 3.5-liter overhead-cam V-8 powered car that would be produced in limited numbers for the next two years, yet for only one of these were the cars exported to the pivotal US market.Featured here is a stunning example of a 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SE 3.5. Recently professionally restored in the correct factory ‘mittelblau’ metallic over Saddle Roser leather with acres of burl-walnut trim and a contrasting Haartz cloth convertible top, the results are nothing short of stunning, understated opulence combined with the power, handling and ride comfort this generation of Mercedes-Benz automobiles are known for. As all 802 examples that reached the United States were equipped, this car features factory-installed Behr air-conditioning, a Becker Europa stereo radio, dash-mounted clock, power-windows, vacuum-operated power locks and much more. As remarked on by marque specialist Alex Dearborn, ‘The enthusiast would have a hard time finding a collectible car so thoroughly modern and easy to use. With their snug-fitting six-layer convertible tops, excellent sound-deadening, and quiet V-8s, they can cruise the interstates at today’s elevated speeds, delivering four people to their weekend destinations in better comfort than many new cars. Service and parts are easy to obtain through hundreds of knowledgeable dealers and independent shops.’ If you have been looking for the right and correct one of these to buy in an understated and uncommon color combination such as this one, you would be hard-pressed to acquire a better example.

1927 Ford, Mid-Engine, Pantara Roadster.

It was a feature article in the 1993 May issue of "Street Rodder" Magazine as, "The DiTomaso T". I have the article and complete build sheet on the car. I got the car as part of a trade and I am going to advertise it this spring. The car was professionally built and it shows in every detail. The body and paint work is superb. It starts right up, shifts flawlessly from gear to gear and the power to weight ratio puts it in the, "monster", category. We know what it would cost to reproduce it. So I figure $35000, or best offer, is less than half of what it would cost to build. If you are thinking about making a classic car investment this spring, this one deserves a serious look. You will never find another one like it in a lifetime.

1999 Lamborghini Diablo SV - Classic Car For Sale

Description:

At a time when the legendary high-performance Italian sports car firm Lamborghini was financed by the Swiss-based Mimram brothers, development began on a project codenamed simply ''132'' in June of 1985. Known to few and only as a replacement for the then-dominant Countach model, the essential requirement before any design began to take shape was that its top speed had to be no less than a super-legal 315 kilometers per hour. The Diablo was named after a ferocious bull raised by the Duke of Veragua in the 19th century, famous for fighting an epic battle with ''El Chicorro'' in Madrid on the 11th of July, 1869. In the words of Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson, the Diablo was designed "solely to be the biggest head-turner in the world."Diablo''s design was entrusted to Marcello Gandini, who was responsible for the new car''s two immediate predecessors. Following Chrysler''s purchase of the company in 1987, money was provided to complete the development, yet top management was unimpressed with Gandini’s designs and commissioned its design team in Detroit to execute a third extensive redesign that smoothed out the trademark sharp edges and corners of Gandini''s original design.Presented to the public for the first time on the 21st of January, 1990 and with prices starting at just over $240,000, Diablo debuted at Monaco''s famed Hotel de Paris during the second ''Lamborghini Day''. Power came from a 5.7-litre, 48-valve version of the legendary Lamborghini V-12 that featured dual overhead cams and computer-controlled multi-point fuel injection, producing a maximum output of 492 brake horsepower and 427 pound-feet of torque. The vehicle could reach 60 miles per hour in slightly under 4 seconds and topped out at a top speed of 202 mph. Even at over $240,000, the vehicle was somewhat spartan, featuring only basic radio functions along with manual windows, adjustable but unpowered seats and no anti-lock brakes, mostly to minimize the vehicle''s already high kerb weight. A few options were available; having the driver''s seat molded specifically for the buyer, a rear spoiler, a $2,600 factory fitted-luggage set and an exclusive $10,500 dashboard clock. Even though some felt it under-amenitied, keeping the weight off garnered it the title of fastest production car in the world the following year as it beat the Ferrari F40 by a single mile-per-hour. The Diablo held the title for two years until Jaguar''s XJ220 claimed a top speed of 217mph - making it the fastest production car of 1993.Special features, such as all-wheel-drive and a host of performance packages harking back to the glory days of the Miura using terms that included SV and ''Jota'', soon came to market. Offered here is one of the most opulent and best performing of these. This 1999 Lamborghini Diablo SV is one of only 25 cars built to US specifications with rare rear-wheel drive and has just over 11,500 certified miles to its credit from new. Finished in titanium over a sumptuous tan leather interior with contrasting gray piping and offering factory air scoops only offered on these scarce Special Edition ''Super Veloce'' models, it has benefited from meticulous upkeep throughout its life. The car retains its original owners manuals and keyless-entry remote fobs as well and sports the trademark factory rear wing, open headlights, a high-performance exhaust system, updated air conditioning and much more to suit the most discerning buyer of this rare and appreciating neo-classic Italian supercar.
