The copy of the window sticker we have reflects the following options: Sure Grip; S81 wood grain sports steering wheel; T75 E70x14 redlines, and; $54.00 worth of destination charge from Hamtramck to John Quaden Dodge in Okauchee, Wisconsin. If you are a Mopar fan, I don’t have to tell you how rare this car is!

Lighter by a fair margin than its heavyweight B-Body brothers, Darts could pack quite a wallop with far fewer cubic inches. That's not to say the 340 was some kind of slouch--the high winding mill sported 2.02/1.60 valves as stock, a hot cam, forged internals and the valve springs to twist the RPM's past the 6000 mark in a hurry!

The Swinger 340 package got you the 340 engine, a no cost four speed manual, a beefy suspension and a heavy duty 8 3/4 rear end. The GTS sat at the top of the Dart lineup with the Swinger lightening content and shedding weight while keeping a couple hundred bucks in your pocket. Stuff 3.91's out back and you've got a handful when you mash the gas!

Start inside. This is the deluxe interior with a comfy bench seat, and it's in great shape. You're looking at original gauges in a re-chromed housing, a clean dash pad on top and new carpeting way below on the floor. The original
Hurst stick comes naturally to your right hand while the original wood grain wheel occupies your left. New pedal pads with pedal dress up keep your feet busy. Original door panels and armrest pads look great at your sides while a new headliner is above. No, it's not fancy--think of it as a power suit rather than casual Friday!

Underneath you'll find the original transmission giving direction through the driveshaft to the original 8 3/4 rear. You'll also find a new exhaust system with Xcelerator welded mufflers (different and cool) and re-chromed exhaust tips. A new fuel tank feeds the motor from behind, the front suspension's rebuilt and the floor pans are coated in Spring Green. Color matched steelies with correct reproduction Goodyear E70x14 redlines sit at all four corners accented by correct dog dish hubcaps. Unassuming and lethal--it's a good combination!

Pop the hood and nod approvingly at the 1970 vintage, rebuilt 340 mill. There's a new Antique Auto Battery unit in the corner, a new Tony's Parts chrome valve cover breather and the correct radiator cap atop the re-cored radiator. Correct exhaust manifolds fill the pipes below while the original air cleaner lets in the fresh stuff. New hoses and wires couple with electronic ignition and a remanufactured Carter 4615S carb for reliability and drivability. It'll go, too--don't worry about that!

Spring Green coats the body and looks great, especially coupled to the black vinyl top and Swinger bumblebee stripe. A restored grille and re-chromed bumper lead off the front while re-chromed taillights with clean lenses finish off the look. New hood and deck lid "Dodge" badges accompany new door handles and the original hood inserts to finish off the bright work. Open the trunk to find the spare, a 5th wheel matched to the four on the car and a new trunk mat. It's a clean car with room enough for all of your cruising gear, too!

Darts have always been about cheap speed, and lots of it. With its cool color, rarity, rebuilt drive train, sorted chassis, clean cosmetics and bruiser attitude, this one is a winner! Show it, cruise it, enjoy it … watch it climb in value!
