1966 Lincoln Continental Convertible - Classic Car For Sale (Click Here)

Description:

The 1966 Lincoln Continental received the most extensive facelift for this series since 1961. In a yearly modified form, this basic crisp theme would be carried through to 1966's curved side glass, which had been eliminated for 1964-1965, returned for 1966, and stayed with Lincoln through 1969; it served to accentuate the car's otherwise straight-line design. Ahead of the front wheel and above the front bumper, the car carried the four-pointed Continental "star." The 1966 Lincoln deserved this star -- a distinctive benchmark of Lincoln Continental styling. It was as if the creators had placed it there as a tribute to this triumph of design.

The convertible saw a few technical changes in 1966 related to lowering and raising the top. Lincoln engineers separated the hydraulics for the top and rear deck lid (trunk) by adding a second pump and eliminating the hydraulic solenoids. A glass rear window replaced the previous years' plastic windows.

This specific 1966 Lincoln Continental Convertible you see here is a 60,000, original mile car! Still finished in its original colors of triple black, the car drives like a dream and is THE most desirable color combination out of any of the Suicide door Lincolns that are available.

The black paint is in great condition and only shows some minor imperfections. The car has been repainted in the past few years and it looks great. The power top operates only from the key switch outside the car. The switch inside is currently not working. The top is in great condition though with no major staining, rips or tears. The glass rear window shows no cracks or chips along with the other windows and windshield. The front and rear chrome bumpers both are in excellent condition. The trunk is very clean and has been carpeted.

The interior of the car is in great condition. The black front and rear bench seats have both been reupholstered and show no imperfections. All the carpet is new and looks great with no rips, tears or staining. The AM/FM radio appears to be the original for the car and turns on, but only emits static. All the lights, blinkers and wipers work with no problems. All the power functions work for the main windows; the two vent windows are currently inoperable.

The engine is the original 462 CU IN V8. It runs strong and is attached to a 3 speed automatic transmission with shifter on the column. The current mileage shows 60,229 and is believed to be actual for the car. The engine compartment is very clean. The underside of the car is very solid throughout and has no major undercoating. There is some very minor rot to the floors on the drivers side rear floor pan. The rest of the floors are very solid with no rot. The VIN is 6Y86G441531 and mileage shows 60,229.
