Brain child of Malcom Bricklin and designed by Herb Grasse, the Bricklin SV-1 short for Safety Vehicle 1, hit the US market in 1974 but enjoyed only a very short production span due to inadequate funding and manufacturing problems. Designed to be an economical sports car or an alternative to the Corvette, the Bricklin SV-1 was totally unique at the time with powered gull wing doors, 5 mph bumpers and purposeful lack of cigarette lighter and ash tray. Powered at first by an AMC 360 and later by the tried and true Ford 351 Windsor V-8, the SV-1 posted some respectable performance figures for the time and today remains one of the most unique automotive experiments of all time. It is believed that fewer than 1,120 Bricklins still exist! Finished in classic white over very nice original brown/tan interior, this handsome 1975 Bricklin SV-1 is a very solid, highly original example boasting just over 11,500 original miles! Powered by a 351 Ford V-8 and nicely equipped with power steering, power disc brakes, A/C, euro gauges, bucket seats, center console, Ford automatic transmission, original finned aluminum wheels, air powered gull wing door system, original AM/FM radio, and more, this car also sports its original and very straight fiberglass body, mostly original paint, strong running unmodified Ford 351 V8, new hand made carpet kit, original seats, gauges, dash, and door panels. With only about 1,000 surviving examples of this unique vehicle in existence, this handsome example is a very rare opportunity to acquire such an uncommon piece of automotive history… one can be assured that at almost any car event, you will stand out in the crowd with this Bricklin! This vehicle has been completely serviced and recently driven over 100 miles and is in excellent operating order, drive anywhere with confidence! Odometer currently reads 11,516 miles and according to previous owner’s statement, overall presentation of car, and drive characteristics is believed to be original mileage, however, due to age of vehicle, we can not guarantee an actual mileage claim.
