Description:
Last of the classic open headlamp TR sports cars beginning with the TR2 in 1954, the Triumph TR6 debuting for the U.S. market in 1969 quickly became one of the most iconic two seat roadsters produced, and served to redefine the generation of two seat roadsters which would follow. Fully occupied by other British Leyland projects the traditional designer for Triumph, Michelotti, was unable to attend to the new TR design and Triumph was forced to turn to the German coach builder Karmann for fresh architecture to flaunt the new 2.5 liter in-line 6 cylinder engine. Karmann managed to retain the TR’s basic inner structure, execute the new body design, and manufacture the necessary tooling all within 14 months, a fairly short time frame considering the TR6 was produced for more than 7 years. This 1972 Damson Maroon on Black interior Triumph TR6 sits in nicely detailed, correct and very well kept overall condition. Hailing from dry Southern California, and sporting its “Blue Plates”, this enthusiast grade English roadster boasts a very healthy well-maintained drive-train, fully functional electronics including all instruments, rust free body and chassis, correct convertible top with reflective strip, nice chrome bumpers, new tires, MOMO wood steering wheel, recent interior restoration as well as good overall paint and body fit and finish, clean undercarriage, spare tire and jack, and so much more. Fitted with correct 2.5 liter, 152
