1964 Dodge Polara 500 (383 V8) - For Sale (Click Here)

Description:
Classic Muscle Car For Sale:
Tough customer, aren’t you? First, you want something unique. Then it’s gotta be a big block and a stick. Paint it something exciting, you say. Oh, and make the restoration fresh. You can sit back with your arms folded and a look of satisfaction on your face all you want—we’ve got you covered. Early B bodies are as cool as they are steadily gaining in value, and this hot red on red 383 four speed Polara 500 is your ticket to Mopar mania with a twist!

Fortunately, there are build sheets saved by Chrysler for older Mopars like this one, so it’s easy to verify options or drivelines. This is a true red-on-red car, with bucket seats and a center console inside. The 383, four speed combo is correct, too. Cassville, Mo’s J.C. Kenny Motors is the selling dealer while Hamtramck MI built the car. The options are easy to read thanks to Galen Govier’s decoding of the IBM card!

383 Cubic inches of Mopar big block resides under hood. The original 2bbl intake gave way to an Edelbrock Performer RPM manifold (with identification marks ground down for a stealthy treatment) holding a new Holley 4160 carb—muscle cars don’t have 2 barrel carbs! A period correct Mopar dual snorkel air cleaner tops the mill, hiding the modifications underneath for a cool look while chrome valve covers add flash. Mopar’s electronic ignition lights the fires through new wires while a high flow water pump and a recored, correct 22” radiator keep temps under control. An Antique Auto Battery group 27 red cap battery and an updated dual field alternator setup provides more than enough power; HP exhaust manifolds efficiently pass down combustion gasses. New belts, hoses and wiring means trouble free motoring to your favorite hangout spot or a cross country run!

Get to know the interior—you’ll spend more time there than anywhere else. Re-stuffed seats with new red covers are both comfortable and good looking. The original center console is cool with its chrome top plate, built in armrest and added-in Auto Meter tach. The dash frame got a clean coat of red paint, the gauge and bezel are clean and bright, the door panels are new and so is the carpet. Auto Custom Carpet embroidered floor mats keep the floor as clean as the new headliner. New armrest bases, inside door handles and window cranks shine like it’s 1964 again—this is a cool ride!

A big nasty super stock hood scoop sits on the hood and a set of old school Eagle Alloys Torq Thrust wheels with 7.75x15 black walls create a look that screams “muscle!” New chrome bumpers join a mint grille up front and a clean tail panel and original taillight set out back. The clean red paint over the straight body looks awesome from any angle, and the trim is a gleaming partner to the red’s attitude. New headlight bulbs up front light the way while clean original taillight lenses in original housings out back bring up the rear. The mass amount of side stainless is in excellent shape and is highly polished. Sit behind the wheel, jam the Hurst stick in first, dial up some revs and imagine you’re tearing up the Winternationals!

The solid chassis makes for a stable platform for the power up front. The rear floor pans were replaced but the rest of the undercarriage appears as original. The 8 ¾ rear out back is held up by heavy duty leaf springs while the big block torsion bars up front twist the front end level. New shocks, new steering and new brake components are a reassuring find, and the dual exhaust system is new and sounds great without being intrusive. Everything underneath is covered in protective black undercoating, while splatter paint in the trunk makes for a nice and clean compartment for the jack, spare and about 4 dead bodies!

Different, when it’s this cool, is a good thing. With its awesome color combination, big 383 and four speed and the attitude from the big scoop up front this is a killer cruiser with attitude to spare!
