The 914 model was a conglomeration between Porsche and VW and was hugely successful in both the USA and Europe as a cheap entry level Porsche, with over 130,000 units being sold worldwide from 1970-1976. The 914/6 Porsche for sale was a limited run of 914 that were fitted with luxury options, but more importantly fitted with the 2.0 911 6 cylinder motor. Only 2,000 of these cars were made in 1970 and 1971, and today are a very highly sought after car. The 916 was even rarer and being built for racing purposes. They were fitted with the 2.7 911 RS motor and had a fixed roof and wider wheels and tyres. No 914 model was ever made in RHD from the factory.
The 914/6 of Porsche Classics is one of only approx 10 original cars that are in Australia. This particular 1970 Porsche 914/6 Targa was sourced from San Jose in California in 1997 and was imported by Porsche Classics, and later converted and remains fully registered in Victoria. Finished in its original Tangerine, GT seats with hounds tooth interior, the classic 914 Porsche for sale is a stunning and brilliant example. The 2.0 has a sports exhaust fitted that screams when prompted with your right foot. A quickly appreciating asset that is brilliant to drive.
