Description:

You are looking at one of the most popular and widely recognized car’s ever to be on the TLC hit show “Overhaulin” staring Chip Foose. This 1971 Dodge Challenger was the star of season 2, episode 8 of the hit TV series and made a huge impression on everyone who watched it. The car has been in the
same family its entire life and was passed down from father to son. Due to uncontrollable circumstances, the family has decided to sell the car and is being offered for sale here at our location in St. Louis Missouri.

Built by Chip Foose, This one of a kind custom show car was hand built on the second season of "Overhaulin". The car has been featured on the cover of Hot Rod magazine as well as shown at many show's including SEMA and the All Mopar Show in Van Nuys where is picked up first place awards for best E-Body and Editors choice. We have an appraisal in hand that puts this car at an appraised value of $295,000. The car is being sold by the original owner who the car was made for on the show. This will be the first time it has traded hands to the regret of the owner. This is a true, one family owned car that has been in California its entire life.

As you can see in the photos, the car started life as a Green Go car and when repainted, they retained that color on the top half of the car. It has though, been given that Chip Foose touch that he is so famous for. With custom touches to break up the two tone metallic green and black paint, the paint job on the car is nearly perfect. There are many of these TV car’s that they slap on a few coats of paint to make it look good for TV but when you see them in person look horrible. This is NOT one of those cars. The paint is done to show quality standards and has a brilliant shine and luster. The car only shows a bit over 600 miles since completion and looks as good now as it did when the Overhaulin crew finished it in 2004. Both front and rear chrome bumpers look great and have no blemishes. The wheels are one off customs by Chip Foose that resemble the original style wheels that came on the car. They are wrapped with BF Goodrich radials.

Inside, the crew stayed with the original style for the most part. The most obvious change is to the seats. They are brand new buckets that have been wrapped leather and match the exterior color scheme. The carpet, dash, door panels and headliner are all new and in great condition. There has been a full new set of Auto Gauge gauges installed that all work with no problems and look great. Kicker Car Audio was a huge part of this car. The supplied a monster SX series 1250.1 amp to power the two Kicker Solo Barick L7 subs in the trunk and a SX series 700.4 to power the 3 way, 6x9’s on the rear parcel tray. All of this was done with custom amp racks in the trunk that sit on either side of the dual subs. Powered by a Clarion head unit, the stereo truly sounds as good as the car looks.

Under the hood, the car is powered by a new 440 Cu In V8 connected to a 727 transmission that has been built to handle the power from the motor. Once the show was completed, the car was taken to Icon Engineering in Southern California for a motor swap after the OK was given by Chip Foose as long as the appearance was kept the same. This necessitated painted the engine silver, using Mopar Performance valve covers and March pulleys and brackets. The 727 automatic transmission was completely rebuilt to handle the new power the 440 was going to deliver. There has been an A/C system installed after the show was aired as well. There is currently no heater lines under the hood.

The underside of the car is solid as expected with being out in California its entire life. This is an original blue plate car with the stickers to show on the plate. There has been a new Magnaflow stainless steel exhaust system installed with X pipe which makes this car sound great. The option list on the car is very extensive and includes some of the best names in the business like Baer Brakes, Kicker Audio, Edelbrock, Holley Carbs, BeCool radiator, Magnaflow Exhaust and MSD electronics just to name a few. The car currently shows only 800 miles and shows by taking one glance at it.
