1955 Porsche 356 Pre-A Sunroof Coupe - Collector Car For Sale (Click Here)

Description:

When the first Porsche was brought to Australia by the Hamilton's in 1952, they would not know what success the Porsche brand would bring the family over the next 30 years. The 356 was a runaway success all over the world.

This example was delivered new into Melbourne in 1956 and was one of only 5 356 coupes delivered with a sunroof in that year. The car was originally ivory with green interior. When acquired by Porsche Classics in 2001, the car was in need of restoration, and over the next 6 years the car went to all our best contractors to return the car to its former glory. Stewart was not a fan of the ivory paint scheme, and instead opted for a special silver colour that was taken from Mercedes Benz. This colour has a green hue, that accentuates and captures the green interior to provide a breathtaking combination between paint and interior. Finished with Marshal driving lights, rudge wheels, and rear window blind, this sunroof A is truly beautiful.

1969 Porsche 911 E 2.0 - Classic Car For Sale (Click Here)

Description:

The 1969 Porsche 911 was a significant year in the history of Porsche. In 1969 the Porsche 911 was lengthened to was is known as the LWB, and the E and S models also were fitted with the MFI (Mechanical Fuel Injection). With these two upgrades alone, the 1969 911 also had a variety of features that were unique such as the dashboard. The 2.0 models in the LWB were only made for a very short period of time before the 2.2 litre models replaced them. As a result any 2.0 MFI LWB car in either an S or an E are extremely rare and desireable. They also fit into a wonderful category for Group S racing in Australia as they qualify for Sb rather than Sc, meaning the car is very competitive in its category and class.

This Irish Green Porsche 911 for sale spent all its life in California, and was imported in 2007 by Porsche Classics to Australia. The 1969 Porsche 911 E 2.0 Litre had a fully documented 44,000 original miles, and had also been sympathetically repainted by the previous owner at a cost of over $12,000. The remains very original, and fitted with Deep 6 Fuchs, as well as tinted windows (factory optioned), comfort seats, and over rider delete on the front. The Porsche 911 for sale drives beautifully and is a wonderful and rare example in a very sought after colour. Minor cosmetic replacement parts could be fitted to the car to bring the car up to concours, however given the car's originality this could be scorned upon by some purists. You do what you want to do!

1970 Porsche 914/6 Targa - Classic Car For Sale (Click Here)

Description:

The 914 model was a conglomeration between Porsche and VW and was hugely successful in both the USA and Europe as a cheap entry level Porsche, with over 130,000 units being sold worldwide from 1970-1976. The 914/6 Porsche for sale was a limited run of 914 that were fitted with luxury options, but more importantly fitted with the 2.0 911 6 cylinder motor. Only 2,000 of these cars were made in 1970 and 1971, and today are a very highly sought after car. The 916 was even rarer and being built for racing purposes. They were fitted with the 2.7 911 RS motor and had a fixed roof and wider wheels and tyres. No 914 model was ever made in RHD from the factory.

The 914/6 of Porsche Classics is one of only approx 10 original cars that are in Australia. This particular 1970 Porsche 914/6 Targa was sourced from San Jose in California in 1997 and was imported by Porsche Classics, and later converted and remains fully registered in Victoria. Finished in its original Tangerine, GT seats with hounds tooth interior, the classic 914 Porsche for sale is a stunning and brilliant example. The 2.0 has a sports exhaust fitted that screams when prompted with your right foot. A quickly appreciating asset that is brilliant to drive.

1967 Shelby Cobra 427 - Muscle Car For Sale (Click Here)

Description:

1967 Shelby 427 Cobra
Fully Documented Original - CSX 3287

If ever a car had multiple lives it was the 427 Cobra. In its first life it was a Tojeiro-Bristol. Next came the A.C. Ace, followed by the Ace Bristol and finally the Ace Ford. When it looked as if it was the end of the line for A.C.'s adaptable sports car, along came Carroll Shelby and the 289 Cobra. The final and most iconic incarnation of the original Tojeiro concept came in 1966 with the 427 Cobra.

When the call came for more power to match the big block Corvettes and other potent sports cars, Ford was ready with its big and powerful 427 cid V-8 engine. But in reality the original ladder frame with its transverse leaf springs had first seen production with an 85 hp engine. There was no way that it could handle well over 400 fire-breathing horses.

A.C., Ford and Shelby American were up to the challenge. Ford's computers helped to design a much stiffer chassis with four-wheel independent coil spring suspension. To put all that newfound power to the pavement, the six inch wire wheels were discarded for much wider Halibrand magnesium wheels, but with their corresponding width, the bigger tires couldn't fit under the standard fenders. The solution was for the craftsmen at the A.C. factory in England to construct substantial fender flares. By the time a huge front inlet was shaped to provide sufficient cooling flow for the big Ford mill, the car had a look that was nothing short of aggressive and brutal, yet still clearly a Cobra.

This car ....
A stunning example of the most muscular Shelby Cobra to have ruled the road, it was billed to Shelby American on July 8, 1966. Two months later, the manufacturer had sold it to a very well known Ford dealership in White Plains, New York for $6,145. In its original state, this beautiful 427 Cobra left Shelby American with red paint and was upholstered with a black interior - the same livery as you see it presented here today. After performing some minor maintenance on the car, including the installation of a new fan blade, fuel pump and ignition switch, Larsen Ford sold it on June 16, 1967 to Bronx resident Jay Kulko.

The car would spend the next ten years with two owners in Georgia and in the summer of 1976 it was purchased by Greg Lonberger of Elmhurst, Illinois. By that time, the 427 cobra was showing only 27,337 miles and would be driven on for the next two years sparingly.

In 1978 its new owner, Mike Forman of Ohio, rarely drove the car during eight years of ownership. Cindy Baker of California acquired the car in 1986 and had it repainted in the classic Shelby color Guardsman Blue. After a brief period of ownership, Ms. Baker sold the car to M.D.R. Enterprises of Los Angeles California. In 1987 after only short ownership term, it was sold to Harley Cluxton/Grand Touring Cars of Scottsdale, Arizona. A few months later, a trade involving two 289 Cobras (CSX 2274 and CSX2402) and the car became the property of Nick Nero of Kansas City, Missouri. He would add a degree of panache to the car with a Missouri registered license plate that read "AC 427."

The car has remained in Mr. Nero's family until recently. It has appeared in two calendars during this time, the 1990 Racemark calendar and the 1991 Hallmark Cards calendar. Following Mr. Nero's death in 2002, the car passed on to his son Rhett, a California resident. As attested by its calendar appearances, this Shelby 427 is a beautiful synthesis of the 1960s roadster experience and pure Detroit muscle. Its offering here in splendid condition presents a rare opportunity to own one of only 348 such cars whose cachet has permanently secured a position in automotive lore. Very few Cobras can boast their original aluminum skin and original chassis, this unmolested example shows beautifully today in it factory delivered red on black configuration. Not only does it offer wonderful eye appeal, but it also runs and drives as you would expect from the original ultimate "supercar."

1938 Ford Custom Coupe Street Rod Convertible - Hot Rod For Sale (Click Here)

Description:

Seldom had Detroit before or since seen an event with an equal to compare with the extravaganza unleashed for the introduction of the 1937 Ford. The date was November 6, 1936, and Sales Manager William C. Cowling spared no effort in getting the new models off to a good start. Some 41 special trains had brought 8,000 dealers to participate in the event. Representing all parts of the United States and Canada, they gathered at the Detroit Coliseum, newly decorated by the famed Walter Dorwin Teague. Music was provided by Fred Waring and his Pennsylvanians, then at the height of their popularity. The event began normally, with some brief presentations by company officials, but suddenly the lights were dimmed. Then, a slim, brilliant shaft of light appeared, focused precisely at center-stage. There all eyes fell upon a huge V-8 emblem, rising slowly through the stage on a special eleveator. Presently, the light broadened as a sprite--a 12 year old girl with golden curls--untwined herself from the emblem. Running gracefully to one side of the stage, she summoned her fellow sprites, elves, and gnomes, who appeared suddenly from various side entrances.

A huge, boiling cauldron arose at center stage, and one-by-one, giant replicas of Ford V-8 parts, each representing some feature of the 1937 models, were exposed to the glare of the spotlight, and tossed, then into the steaming cauldron: a front fender, an instrument panel, various engine components, a radiator grille, a seat cushion--all went into the brew. Then suddenly, as colored lights illuminated the stage, the fumes vanished and the elves disappeared. A shiny club coupe, a newcomer to the Ford line for 1937, rose up, circled the stage and made its way down a ramp to the main floor. It was a spectacular way fo ran automobile company to present its new product line, and a revolutionary concept in merchandising. The truth is, Ford needed a flashy presentation if it wanted to capture the public's attention, for 1936 had not treated the company kindly despite increased production. After beating Chevrolet heandily during the 1935 model year, Ford slipped behind Chevrolet in 1936, with sales falling behind those of its arch-rival by more than 23 percent. This, of couse, seems strange to today's hobbyist, for the 1936 Fords--particularly the open styles and the three-window coupes--are highly prized by collectors and street rodders alike, commanding as much as half-again the price of comparable 1936 Chevrolets on the collector market.

The trend that would elevate Ford to the very heights of custom car building stemmed from their unique V-8 Engine heritage in almost every car during the mid 1930s. Chevrolets were not set up for an eight cylinder engine until 1955 and thus performing a hot-rod convesion on such a car presented an additional challenge to the home hobbyist or returning serviceman in need of a fun, but cheap, set of wheels. Ford's styling, even though it used elements from the early part of the 1930s well into the latter part of the decade, was much sharper than its Chevrolet or Plymouth counterparts; the car's flowing bodylines, trim and detailing were without equal. While Chevrolet and Plymouth featured hydraulic brakes by 1937, Ford would take another year to finally move away from mechanical rods stopping each wheel; Ford would also take longer to move away from the same type of beam axle that had been found on their Model T well after others went to semi-independent suspensions that conformed to the contours of the road with much more aplomb. All of this still did not deter the desire of the customizer to keep a V-8 car V-8 powered; everything else could be dealt with.

For those in the day who looked to hot rod their existing L-head V-8's, performance parts vendors such as Edelbrock and Offenhauser beckoned; however, the real emphasis in modular V-8 power came not from Ford but from the large company across town. Chevrolet's famed small block mill presented the hot rodders with a small engine with huge power potential. Today, the derivatives of the original 265 and 283 are in more hot-rods from a variety of American marquees than almost any other engine. This tradition is supported not only at the grassroots level with fiberglass-bodied cars and kits to fit an entire GM drivetrain with other modern car suspension systems, but almost as a tribute to these beginnings, many of the finest custom cars from original steel pre-war classics use the same formula with equal success.

Featured here is an eye-poppingly unusual 1938 Ford Custom Convertible Hot Rod that originated from the Canadian Ford production line and retains its rare grille and body style unique to the cars from the north of the border. With hand-crafted precision, the body was carefully formed to enhance through subtle frenching such ordinary details such as headlamps, taillamps and the elimination of elements that detracted fromt he stylist's original idea. Beautifully finished in yellow with a contrasting purple interior largely accented by the body color, the entire car speaks to the simplicity of all that really is required to make a car look it very best. Its roofline, drawn low by its accessory hardtop in a tribute to the original hot-rodders art of chopping down the roofline of an original Coupe or Cabriolet also represents a smooth and seamless line from front to rear. Under the hood, the body color is again dominant, with yellow capturing the eye over a clean and detailed Chevrolet Corvette Small Block V-8 Engine. With an automatic transmission, rack and pinion steering, power brakes and more, it is truly the ultimate in presentation and performance alike and epitomizes the beauty of style through substance and simplicity combined.

1970 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Automatic

Description:

Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Automatic

New price! Now available at 27.500 EUR!

The Mercedes-Benz W113 automobiles were produced from 1963 through 1971. They were sold as the "pagoda roof" SL Class. The W 113 replaced the W 198 SL-Class in 1963 and was replaced by the R107 SL-Class in 1972.

All models boast an inline six-cylinder engine with multi-port fuel injection using a mechanical pump system adapted from the diesel motors. All are rear-wheel drive, but are also equipped with independent rear suspension, a feature that greatly improved road handling. Most of these early SLs were sold with both the removable hard top and a soft top in the so-called "Coupe/Roadster" configuration, but there was also a "California Coupe" version available that came with the removable hardtop but no soft top. In these models, the soft top well (between the passenger compartment and trunk) is removed, and a drop-down bench seat is installed in its place. The rear seat is small and not very useful, so these 2+2 models are rare but not especially sought after today. While the SLs are relatively heavy compared to other similar roadsters, weight was reduced in part by the use of aluminum panels for the trunk lid, front hood, tonneau cover and door skins. There were a 230 SL (July 1963−January 1967), a 250 SL (December, 1966−January, 1968) and a 280 SL (December 1966-January 1971).

The 2.8 liter 280 SL was introduced in 1967 and continued production largely unchanged through 1971 when the W 113 was replaced by the entirely new, and substantially heavier, R 107 350 SL/450 SL. Most 280 SL cars built for the U.S. market were equipped with automatic transmission. Manual transmission cars came with either a 4-speed tramsmission or a ZF-5 speed. In the European market manual transmission cars were still dominant. 23.885 280 SLs were produced, of which 12,927 units went to the USA.

This car was originally registered in Germany, at 30 June 1970. But, as it was'nt quickly in Germany the car was sold to The Netherlands where it was registered at 5 August 1971. The car has old Dutch papers and a recent restoration. The car is fitted with a new interior and engine is completely done by a real enthusiast. Only 5.000 kms since. The car is good running and there's also a hard top with the car. The car is in a lovely seventies colour!

1962 Maserati 3500 GT - Classic Car For Sale (Click Here)

Description:

Maserati 3500 GT

In the mid 50s the head of Maserati, Omer Orsi, gave Ing Giulio Alfieri, Maseratis chief engineer, the task of designing a fast reliable road going Granturismo that could be produced in larger numbers. Maserati had until then produced road cars in very low numbers, mainly in response to orders from individual customers. It was this strategy that was to change Maseratis fortunes. This decision was to become even more relevent when in 1958, after having captured the Formula 1 World Championship and, but for some bad luck, almost capturing the World Sportscar Championship, Maserati entered some dark days financially.

Alfieris plan was a simple, but effective one and was influenced by the need to make production as economical as possible whilst ensuring quality and reliability. To achieve this Alfieri modified the competition six cylinder engine from the Tipo 350S sports racer for road use and incorporated some major components from leading European manufactures. From Germany the ZF (Zahnradfabrik of Friedrichshafen) gearbox, and from England the clutch assembly by Borg and Beck, the rear differential by Salisbury and front and rear suspension components from Alford Alder.

The 3500GT was first presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1957. Two prototypes were displayed on the Maserati stand: one by Allemano, the then traditional designer for the 'Casa del Tridente' and the other the work of Carrozzeria Touring of Milan.

Touring had designed a very elegant 2+2 coupe and it was this design that Omer Orsi chose for the series production. The 3500GTs twin overhead camshaft six cylinder engine fed by three twin choke 42 DCOE Weber carburettors had a cubic capacity of 3,485 with a compression ratio of 8.5 to, 1 developing some 220 bhp at 5,500 rpm (reduced slightly from the prototype's figures of 226 bhp at 5,500 rpm). The chassis frame was a multi-tubular structure of high-duty steel giving the car a total dry weight of 1300 KGs. Braking was by hydraulically operated 12-inch drum brakes. The front suspension was by coil-springs and wishbones with a torsion anti-roll bar and rear suspension by semi-elliptical leaf-springs and live rear axle.

Between late 1957 and early 1958 the 3500GT entered production. The production 3500GTs differed slightly from the prototype with alterations to the headlamps and indicators, a re-designed radiator grille, minor alterations to the dashboard and other smaller details. The overall design of the 3500GT remained largely unchanged until early 1961 during which time numerous minor modifications were made, many of which were optional. In 1959 optional front disc brakes were available (standard equipment in 1960), a limited slip differential (standard equipment in 1960) and Borrani knock-on wire wheels.

In 1960, Carrozzeria Vignale introduced a 3500 Spyder on a shortened chassis, a design strongly influenced by the coupe of Touring. In 1961 the major change was the introduction of the 3500GTI, fitted with a Lucas direct fuel injection system with power increased to 235bhp. In 1962 with the 3500GT beginning to look dated some alterations were made to improve its looks with the removal of the side and bonnet air vents.
The 3500GT was more entitled to be named a 'sports car' than a 'Granturismo'. Powered by an engine evolved from the Tipo 250F Formula 1 car and based on the successful Tipo 350S sports racer, the 3500GT had a maximum speed of around 230 KM/h combined with excellent acceleration.

However when it came to appearances, there was nothing sports racer about this car with its combination of elegant coachwork and luxurious interior, it simply oozed class.

The 3500GT is important in that it was Maserati's first production car to be built in substantial numbers with 2226 cars, coupes and spyders, built in various guises over a period of eight years. During this period the some of Italy's top Carrozziere Vignale, Allemano, Frua, Bertone, Boneschi and Moretti designed bodies on the 3500's chassis but none achieved the classic lines of the Touring design.

The 1961 fuel-injected version of 3500GT, the 3500GTI, received some minor exterior cosmetic changes: a lower roofline, longer nose, shallower front radiator grille, revised front rectangular-shaped indicators replaced the small round ones, the front foglights were removed, redesigned rear light clusters and rear quarterlights were added to the doors. The letter 'I' was added to the 'Maserati 3500 GT' chrome script above the rear number plate and a Trident badge was added with the word 'Iniezione' written on it.

This particular 3500GTI was imported in 1996 from Italy to The Netherlands. The car has been with two Dutch owners since. The car has completed the 2007 Tulpenrally and was fully serviced at respected specialist Italauto (Kees van Stokkum, Achterveld, The Netherlands). The car is fitted with Webers (so no problems with the Lucas Injection system). Invoices from the period 2005-2007 of 25.000,00 EUR in total with the car. The car is a real driver, not a concours winner. It's a real driver. Alluminium coachwork is in good overall condition. Chassis looks very good! Technics are as described, done by Italauto and very good. Interior looks very original and comes with some patina and isn't damaged at all.

Good priced for todays market.

1929 Lincoln Town Car - Antique Car For Sale (Click Here)

Description:

The Lincoln automobile was designed and produced by one of America's greatest engineers, Henry Leland. Leland was trained as a precision engineer, and he created one of the most successful luxury automobiles of the era. When another Detroit automotive pioneer, Henry Ford ran into financial trouble with his first commercial venture, the Detroit Automobile Company, Leland was instrumental in taking over the company. Ford was removed. The company was renamed Cadillac, with Leland in control. With greatly improved engineering Cadillac became quite successful. A few years later it was bought by GMC. When the US entered WW1, Leland left Cadillac. In four month's time he built a factory that would ultimately employ 6000 men, and produce over 6000 of the famous Liberty V12 aircraft engines. The end of the war left Leland with a factory and a highly trained work force but no further orders for aircraft engines. It was a logical step for him to reenter automobile production. His engineers designed a V8 powered car to be built to the highest possible, "Aeronautical" standards. By 1920 the first cars were being delivered. Based on Leland’s reputation over 1000 orders had been taken before the first car left the factory.

However, post war shortages of materials combined with Leland’s obsessive demand for perfection in every aspect of the manufacture of this automobile caused delivery delays of 9 months or more. With the onset of the depression later that year Lincoln was faced with insurmountable financial losses. Bankruptcy was declared in 1921 and Henry Ford, now flush with money from the phenomenal success of his “Model T” swooped in and bought the Lincoln Company for pennies on the dollar. Leland was ousted soon afterwards.

Fears that Ford would ruin the luxurious and high quality Lincoln through mass production methods proved unfounded. Instead both companies benefited. Ford incorporated Lincoln’s precision manufacturing techniques and Lincoln, run as an independent company by Ford’s son Edsel, learned much from Ford’s mass manufacturing expertise.

The original Leland 60° V8 engine, beautifully designed with it’s “fork and spade” connection rods, full pressure lubrication, light weight pistons and aluminum cylinder heads, was improved steadily over the next few years. Towards the end of its production in 1930, it had become an exceptionally smooth and powerful engine. Producing well over 90 horse power from 385 cubic inches, (6.3 L), and with stunning acceleration thanks to it’s compact design, light crankshaft and superb engineering detail, and with chassis and coachwork to match the “Model L” Lincoln became the icon of the 20’s.

This combination of quality, style and performance did not go unnoticed. Under the guidance of the artistic Edsel Ford, some of the country’s finest coachbuilders such as Dietrich, Murphy, Brunn and others were designing and building small runs of bodies. The “Brunn” bodied “Model L” Town car that is the star of this story was considered to be one of the most elegant chauffeur driven automobiles of the 20’s.

Movie stars and bankers were not the only people buying the model L Lincoln. This was the time of Prohibition, and the gangsters of the era appreciated the combination of flair, powerful engines and excellent road holding the cars provided. Men such as Al Capone, Dutch Schultz, Lucky Luciano en Jack “Legs” Diamond were quick to press them into action and the Lincoln soon gained notoriety as the favorite car of the well-heeled bootlegger. Its tremendous acceleration made it the ideal getaway car, particularly when the lawmen were trying to keep up in a model “T”! Once the Lincoln had become established with the underworld, the law had little choice but to follow suit. The factory built the “Police Flyers” to different standards then the cars available to the public, gangsters included. The engines were souped up to give them an additional 10 miles or more of top speed, and the cars were equipped with factory engineered front brakes, three years before they became available to the public! These special police cars earned an awesome reputation both with the underworld and the public.

Jack "Legs" Diamond, 1897- 1931, was a famous Irish-American gangster in New york City during the Prohibition era. A bootlegger and close associate of gambler Arnold Rothstein, Diamond survived a number of attempts on his life between 1919 and 1931, causing him to be known as the "clay pigeon of the underworld." In 1930, Diamond's nemesis Dutch Schultz remarked to his own gang, "Ain't there nobody that can shoot this guy so he don't bounce back?"

This car was originally sold to Mr Jack "Legs" Diamond. The car is completely in original condtion, with bullit holls and original paint. Very unique! Don't hesitate to contact us for more informtion.

Born July 10, 1897 as Jack Moran, Diamond soon joined a New York street gang called the Hudson Dusters. Diamond later served in the U.S. Army, but deserted. In 1918-1919, he was convicted and jailed for desertion.
After his release from prison, Diamond was hired by "Little Augie" Jacob Orgen to murder an enemy. Diamond became Augie's personal bodyguard. He was shot twice when Louis Buchalter, seeking to move in on the labor rackets that Orgen was running in the garment district, shot and killed Orgen.

Diamond was known for leading a rather flamboyant lifestyle. He was a very energetic individual; his nickname "Legs" derived either from his being a good dancer or from how fast he could escape his enemies. For a gangster, Diamond was also loyal, but was not averse to double-crossing someone when he saw fit. His wife, Alice Diamond was never supportive of his lifestyle, but didn't do much to dissuade him from it. Diamond was a womanizer; his best known mistress was showgirl and dancer Marion “Kiki” Roberts. The public loved Diamond; he was New York’s biggest celebrity at the time.

During the late 1920's, Prohibition was taking place. The sale of beer and other alcohol was illegal in the United States. This, however, did not stop Diamond, nor anyone else in the crime business, from closing shop. He travelled to Europe for a couple of months, hoping to score beer and narcotics that way, but he came back unsuccessful.
Following Orgen's death, Diamond went to work overseeing bootleg alcohol sales in downtown Manhattan. That brought him into conflict with Dutch Schultz, who planned to move beyond his base in Harlem. He also ran into trouble with other gangs in the city, and on one occasion, after failing to make a payment, he was shot at in the Hotel Monticello. He then moved up to the Catskills to get away from the threat of Schultz and the others. It wasn't enough. Diamond was shot five times on one occasion when Schultz's men surprised him at a private dinner. He managed to escape, getting bullets torn into the back of his car, as well as various locations on his body. The car that saved his life on this occasion is this 1929 Model “L”, the bullet holes are still in the back and the car has been kept in completely original condition ever since.

In 1930, Diamond and two henchmen kidnapped Grover Parks, a local truck driver, and demanded to know what kind of beer or alcohol he was carrying. After he denied that he was carrying anything, they beat and tortured him. They eventually let him go. A few months later, Diamond was brought up on kidnap charges. He was sent to Catskill, New York for his first trial, but was acquitted. However, a federal case on related charges case turned out different, and he was sentenced to four years in jail. A third trial, in Troy, New York however, also saw an acquittal.

During another attempt on Diamond’s life in early 1931, Schultz' gunmen opened up with machine guns at the Aratoga Inn near Cairo, New York, killing two bystanders in the process.

On December 18, 1931, Diamond's enemies finally caught up with him, shooting him after he had passed out at a hideout on Dove Street in Albany, New York after a night party on the day of his trial in Troy. The killers shot him three times in the back of the head at approximately 5:30 AM. However, there were six shots heard, so there's reason to believe a minimal struggle took place. Had he not been killed, he would have gone on to serve the jail time mentioned above.
There has been much speculation as to who was responsible for the murder, including Dutch Schultz, the Oley Brothers (local thugs), and the Albany Police Department. According to William Kennedy’s book 'O Albany, Democratic Party Chairman Dan O’Connel, who ran the local political machine, ordered Diamond's execution, which was carried out by the Albany Police. The following are Dan O'Connell's own words recorded during a 1974 interview by Kennedy and appears on pages 203 and 204:

"In order for the Mafia to move in they had to have protection, and they know they'll never get it in this town. We settled that years ago. Legs Diamond...called up one day and said he wanted to go into the 'insurance' business here. He was going to sell strong-arm 'protection' to the merchants. I sent word to him that he wasn't going to do any business in Albany and we didn't expect to see him in town the next morning. He never started anything here."
"Prior brought him around here...but he brought him around once too often. Fitzpatrick finished Legs."

O'Connell added that Fitzpatrick (a Police sergeant and future chief) and Diamond were "sitting in the same room and (Fitzpatrick) followed him out. Fitzpatrick told him he'd kill him if he didn't keep going."
Given the power that the O'Connell machine held in Albany and their determination to prevent organized crime other than their own from establishing itself in the city and threatening their monopoly of vice, most people accept this account of the story. In addition it has been confirmed by other former machine officials.

A film, a Broadway musical and books!

Diamond is the subject of director Budd Boetticher's 1960 film “the Rise and Fall of Legs Diamond starring Ray Danton and Warren Oates as well as a 1988 broadway musical later based on the movie, which starred Peter Allen.

The McLaren F1 is a sports car designed and manufactured by Gordon Murray and McLaren Automotive. On
March 31, 1998, it set the record for the fastest production car in the world, 240 mph (391 km/h). As of April 2009, the F1 is succeeded by three faster cars in sheer top speed, but is still the fastest naturally aspirated production car.

The car features numerous proprietary designs and technologies. It is lighter and has a more streamlined structure than even most of its modern rivals and competitors despite having one seat more than most similar sports cars, with the driver's seat located in the middle. It features a powerful engine and is somewhat track oriented, but not to the degree that it compromises everyday usability and comfort. It was conceived as an exercise in creating what its designers hoped would be considered the ultimate road car. Despite not having been designed as a track machine, a modified race car edition of the vehicle won several races, including the 24 Hours of
Le Mans in 1995, where it faced purpose-built prototype race cars. Production began in 1992 and ended in 1998. In all, 106 cars were manufactured, with some variations in the design.

In 1994, AutoCar stated in a road test regarding the F1, "The McLaren F1 is the finest driving machine yet built for the public road." and that "The F1 will be remembered as one of the great events in the history of the car, and it may possibly be the fastest production road car the world will ever see."

1989 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante - Classic Car For Sale (Click Here)

Description:

THE V8 VANTAGE: The Aston Martin V8 Vantage was announced on the 18th February 1977. Revised camshafts, air-box, larger inlet valves and carburettors, new inlet manifolds and different plugs, claimed to provide an increase in power of 40% and 10% more torque. The same ZF 5 speed manual transmission as in the V8 saloon became standard equipment, although a number of cars have been fitted with Torqueflite automatic transmission. As the Vantage is a development of the standard V8 series III saloon, aerodynamic improvements were necessary to cope with the increased power out put. These included a rear tail spoiler, a deep front air dam below the front bumper, blanked off radiator and bonnet air scoop. Koni dampers were fitted and the suspension stiffened, with a larger anti-roll bar. In their April 1978 road test, even Motor Sport had to agree that it was the fastest accelerating production car in the world. The series II Vantage was introduced in October 1978 at the same time as the V8 series IV or "Oscar India" saloon ("Oscar India" = October Introduction) became available and shares the same changes in body styling, including a discreet integral rear spoiler. Slightly wider Wheel arches are evident and carburettor bonnet bulge with the dummy air intake now permanently closed at the front. Internally, a leather head lining, burr walnut dash board (except the first 20 or so cars which retained the Black dash-board) and door cappings are fitted. A road test by Motor magazine, April 25th 1981, produced a 0-60 M.P.H. time of 5.2 seconds. The series III Vantage made its debut at the 1986 Motor Show staged at The National Exhibition Centre near Birmingham, England. It features revised bodywork, 16" wheels and an optional 400 b.h.p. X-pack engine.

THE V8 VOLANTE: Announced on 21st June 1978 the V8 Volante was built to satisfy the persistent demands for new open four seater cars, as demonstrated by the escalation in prices of used Aston Martin drop-head coupés, particularly in the United States. Its specification follows the contemporary V8 saloon series IV (Oscar India) announced four months later, sharing revised rear body lines, bonnet (the carburettor bulge with dummy air scope now closed at front), burr walnut dash board and door cappings. The convertible hood is fully lined and power operated. The engine, was by then the well tried and tested all alloy V8 designed by Tadek Marek that had made it's first appearance in January 1967 at the Racing Car Show in London and raced by Lola in their Type 70 Mk III GT. The first V8 Volante was road tested by Motor Magazine on the 3rd of March 1979, when 0-60 M.P.H. in 7.7 seconds and a maximum 150 M.P.H. were recorded. All production until March 1981 (save the prototype) was exported to North America, with home and continental European markets following thereafter. In 1983, the Volante shared a number of detailed improvements with series IV saloon such as, revised heating & ventilation controls and BBS alloy wheels.

VANTAGE VOLANTE: The Vantage Volante was released at the October 1986 Motor Show, held at the NEC. Vantage engines had already been fitted in some Volante's but it was the modified coachwork inspired by a car built for the Brunei Royal Family, with the flares to the wheel arches continuing along the sills and boot spoiler that distinguished the Vantage Volante. Mechanicals are the same as the V8 Vantage and benefit from experiences in Zagato development. Carburettors are retained and engines delivering 400 b.h.p. with options available up to 432 b.h.p. Wheels are 16" in diameter with low profile tyres. The model remained in production until 1989; approximately 167 were built of which just 78 were right hand drive.

Vehicle History: The first and most important part of this car's history file is the original handwritten order form completed on 22nd June 1988 and made out to, and signed by, W Stringer Esq, the original owner of the car. Originally destined for registration and delivery in December of 1988, the original invoice is dated 23rd November 1988 for the total of £109,387.50. In the end, Mr Stringer took delivery of the car in January 1989 and the car was first registered on 3rd January. Also on file is a letter that reflects a sign of very different times - dated 13th September 1989, it values Mr Stringer's car at £275,000 - but Mr Stringer chose not to tempt the market and retained ownership of the car. It was maintained and regularly serviced by the owner who ran a long established business in car radiators. Sadly Mr Stringer passed away and Byron International brokered the car to the current owner on behalf of his estate. A change of circumstances has unexpectedly brought the car back to the market and although the current owner has only had the car for a short time, he nevertheless maintained it to the highest standard.

Summary: This car has an exceptional history and, with only two owners since new, represents an outstanding opportunity to acquire a rare car that has been cherished and well maintained ever since production. Presented in an ideal colour combination, this is a very useable classic car that sold very quickly when first presented to the market and, ready for Spring/Summer touring, we expect strong interest.

With price tags on new Marathon Prevosts pushing two million dollars, these are serious machines and designed to go more than 2 million miles! The Series 60 Detroit Diesel engine is rated for 800,000 to 900,000 miles with proper maintenance. Marathon only builds 50-60 coaches per year. Each coach is a unique build, with serious engineering and attention to detail. It is with great opportunity to present one of the best values in a luxury motor coach in the current market.

This 2000 Marathon Prevost XL (Marathon Production #0624) has been meticulously maintained since it was delivered new in late 2000, religiously serviced, and in pristine, mint condition. This Prevost is loaded with luxury features that must be experienced to be appreciated. Present is the original build documents, including the original Window Sticker, which reflects the original price of $859,686.00. Also present is the original Marathon factory manual, all service & maintenance receipts, all wiring diagrams and schematics, all specifications and all original factory books and instructions. This Prevost was last serviced by Marathon's San Antonio, Florida plant in November, 2007, where every small detail was attended to. The total spent was $15,000.00 +. The coach has new tires all of the way around, new batteries, and an upgraded Accelevision Backup Camera/color computer monitor display system. Stored indoors since new when not in service, the Prevost has LESS THAN 55,000 ORIGINAL MILES.

The Pearl Blue with Caramel & Vanilla accents stainless steel exterior is exceptional and there is not a scratch or blemish to be found anywhere. That's correct .... This Prevost is plated in stainless steel. This is not a camper or an RV ... this is a luxury motor coach that weighs in at 52,000 pounds! If you are ever on the road with your family in this machine, and someone runs into you ... guess what is going to happen? They are going to bounce off! And your coach will continue motoring down the road, unaware and not much worse for the wear! After the November, 2007 service, the coach was detailed, waxed and pulled inside for storage, and has not been on the road since.

Equipped with the Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine, mated to an Allison 6 speed automatic transmission, this Prevost is one serious machine! A complete air-bus suspension is present on this Prevost, making for smooth, comfortable drives. My family & I took the coach from Ohio to Maine last summer, and with 12 people aboard, it was the most pleasant trip we've ever experienced. Also present is a Kohler diesel-powered generator, which can be accessed through one of the side compartments. The generator can be turned on manually or automatically in the event that shore electrical power is not present, and fully powers the Prevost's invertors. Bottom line, you can drive this Prevost to the middle of a corn field in Iowa, and if you have 200 gallons of diesel fuel in the tank, you can sit in air-conditioned comfort for a month! Speaking of air conditioning, this Prevost has three roof-top air conditioning units, one unit each for the Salon, the Galley and the Bedroom. Each unit has its own separate controls, which is a great feature for both economy and personal preferences. The Prevost has six side compartments, including two which can be used for storage. One of these compartments is a complete slide-out home theater system, which is centrally connected to the home theater equipment in the bedroom. The front bumper also folds down, revealing a large storage area. Also present are two large awning systems, one on each side of the coach, which are perfect for creating instant shade.

One very nice feature of this Prevost is the automatic water fill. Simply connect a hose to the spigot in the side compartment, turn on the water, press a button, and the coach does all the work, and will shut the system off when the 200 gallon fresh water tank is full. Even nicer is the automated gray and black waste tank emptying system. Simply connect your hose, press a couple of buttons, and voila, empty waste tanks!

All electrical panels are conveniently located in another one of the pull up compartments, for easy access. The shore power cord for the coach is conveniently located on the driver’s side of the coach, behind a stainless steel screw down cap, with electric extension and retraction.

To enter the coach, one can use the key, or the electric keypad. Walk up the stairs into the cabin, close the door, and, if you like, an air system will close a hatch door over the stairway area, making for safer traveling. Up front are two leather captain's chairs. The driver gets full power adjustability, but the passenger chair gets the full treatment ...a full recliner with foot-rest. A full bank of controls is close at hand for the driver, which allows him or her to control every function in the coach, the air-ride system, the engine, transmission axle, climate, computer, air brake and the rest of the coach's systems. All controls are over-sized, simple to use, and easy to learn. Give the key a quarter turn, wait for the computer to cycle, and engage the key the rest of the way, and the Detroit Diesel rumbles to life. Wait for the air pressure to build, put the Prevost in Drive, release the air brake, and off you go! As a first-time coach owner, it took me a good four hours behind the wheel to feel fully comfortable behind the wheel of the Prevost. After 200 freeway miles, and learning to account for the sheer size of the coach, and braking/turning distances I was happily and effortlessly cruising down the freeway at 65-70 miles per hour. Turning is a breeze, as the front tires on the coach turn a full 180 degrees. You can nearly turn this Prevost on its axis! Backing up the Prevost is simple, thanks to the rear camera system, which displays the area behind you on the Accelevision color monitor. The on-board computer also displays on the monitor, giving you real-time information on all systems, climate control, water levels, and general information. To make finding your way easier, an Alpine color Navigation System fits nicely next to the passenger chair.

For entertainment, a Sony color TV sits up front, and is wired into the coach theater system. Passengers can watch satellite or a favorite DVD while cruising. Also accessible to the driver is the Clarion AM/FM/CD player and a Cobra CB radio. One very nice feature is the electric shades, 2 up front and 2 sides, controlled by the driver. Who needs a sun-visor? As you move through the cabin to the salon area, you notice the carpeting .... It’s still covered in the factory plastic! That's correct, the carpeting is brand new and protected by heavy duty clear vinyl. In the cabin and salon areas are no less than fifteen overhead cabinets and compartments for storage.

For traveling at night, there are ceiling accent lights and floor accent lighting. Dressing up the tinted windows are eight Hunter-Douglas fabric mini-blinds, which are great for keeping the sun out of your eyes while you are cruising. Two full-sized couches line the Salon area, both of which fold right into beds.

Moving into the kitchen area, you find a custom dining table with diner style seating. Perfect for meals, card games, or just relaxing. The kitchen comes complete with: double sink with instant hot water; White-Westinghouse dish-washer (never used); Sharp microwave oven; Gagginal electric range top; Amana refrigerator/freezer with fresh water and ice maker, and; custom lighting.

The bathroom area, with ceramic tile floors and glass shower, is absolutely luxurious. Present is a vanity & sink with under-cabinet storage and a medicine cabinet with six shelves. The bathroom has its own heater, which can accessed from a pad. The commode is accessed by an air-pocket door and has shelving of its own built into the wall. The luxurious glass shower comes complete with a detachable shower head. The entire bathroom area can be shut off from the rest of the coach with a sliding, lockable pocket door.

From the bathroom area, you move into the bedroom, complete with a king-sized bed which has a built in air lift. The area under the bed is perfect for storage! A nice-sized closet is present, as well as twelve cabinets and a nightstand. Privacy is maintained thanks to four solid fabric Hunter-Douglas blinds. Also in the bedroom area is the main entertainment center controls, complete with a Sony TV, CD player, VCR and RCA Satellite dish. The RCA mobile dish works when the coach is stationary, or cruising down the freeway at 70 MPH. The bedroom is also home to the built-in stacked washer/dryer combo, which has also never been used and is factory new. Last but not least, the main electric panel for the Prevost is located in the bedroom, giving you complete control over all of the coach’s features and systems, including the 110 volt heat and 100 volt hot water heater.

This 2000 Marathon Prevost XL has so many custom features that to explain them all would take volumes. For any prospective buyer, we would welcome a personal inspection of the coach, and would be more than happy to demonstrate all of the coach’s features and capabilities. For the lucky new owner of this coach, we will be happy to spend an entire day helping you transport the coach to its new home, and assist you in learning how to operate it on the road. If used for private purposes, this 40' Marathon Prevost XL is considered a motor-home, and a CDL is NOT required to operate it. If you have been considering a used luxury coach, we would invite you to consider this pristine, well-maintained 2000 Marathon. It looks new, functions as new, and is ready for 1-2 million miles of luxury cruising!

2000 Plymouth Prowler V6 - Collector Car For Sale (Click Here)

Description:

Prowlers are cool—you know it's true. Their lines, their attitude and the sheer improbability they even got built...what's not to like? They're even getting appreciation from the collector market if they're mint and unusual, and this drop dead gorgeous, 1,552 ORIGINAL miles, one owner Prowler Red beauty has its original, never-been-on-the-road perfect trailer with it. We'll come over and shake you ourselves if that didn't wake you up!

Within Chrysler Corporation, the Viper was a production technique test-bed - to see if they really could develop new methods of manufacturing and assembly to lower the cost of a vehicle. The Prowler was, by definition, the next logical extension of this process. The corporation did not care if they made money on it—simply breaking even was considered unlikely—but the Prowler was an experimental vehicle testing out even more advanced methods of assembly (aluminum and composite bonding, for example) and simplified vehicle design than Viper: It was to have been a replacement halo car.

Let's start with the documentation. The original window sticker is here, carefully taken from the window and perfect. We have an original Prowler brochure, an oil change receipt (after all, by miles it's not due until 2018) and the only service call it ever needed for a squeaky power steering pump which needed oiling and two new hood shocks. We have the ORIGINAL title and the original pre-delivery inspection sheet (8 miles were on the car when it left Detroit.) There's a cool card signed by a Prowler Team leader at the factory and th ORIGINAL MSO for the Prowler trailer from Ajax Trailers. They came crated from the factory, and this one's done more rolling around in our showroom for photos than anywhere else—the tire stickers are still on the tread and it's NEVER been outside! The original Infinity Prowler CD is in the stereo and the case is perfect!

Prowler's styling was "heritage-based" (remember that Bob Eaton would not allow the word "retro-" anything to be applied) and was to be the start of a final attempt at revival of the Plymouth brand with its own styling cues to separate it from Dodge or Chrysler divisions. The money saved by dropping the Eagle was to be plowed back into the Plymouth brand. The PT (regardless of what is stated now) was the next vehicle of the revived Plymouth with brand identity. Eventually, all the models under the Plymouth name would have been similar in appearance to the Prowler and PT. Unfortunately, the buying public did not warm to the styling soon enough, and funds for the revised Breeze and minivan were withdrawn.

Now let's go back to our incredible, brand new 2000 Prowler. As per the original window sticker, the price out the door in May of 2000 was $43,725.00. The base price of $43,000.00 included the following: Agate color interior, with leather trimmed buckets seats; 3.5 Liter High Output V6 with 24 valves and multi-port fuel injection; Next Generation air bags with Air bag on/off switch; 4 Wheel Disc Brakes; Rear Window Defroster; Rack & Pinion Steering; 4 Speed Autostick Transmission; Air Conditioning; 6 Disc CD Changer; AM/FM Cassette Radio; Power Windows with One-Touch; Power Locks-Speed Sensitive; Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel; Speed Control; Keyless Entry; Tachometer; Halogen Headlamps; Black Soft-Top, and; P225/4517 front/P295/40R20 rear tires. The Chrome 17x7.5 front/20x10 rear wheels were made standard for '00, and they're reflected in the base price. Your only real option is color, and you simply don't see many red Prowlers! Rather than rattle on about the condition of the car, let's just say it's factory brand new!

It has been stored indoors in a heated/air conditioned facility since the day it was delivered by the semi truck, and has never seen a drop of water. This Prowler has never been washed with a bucket and a hose. There are no defects on the car to be found anywhere.

Only 193 Prowlers were made in red in 2000, and that was the last year for the color. FAR fewer than 193 decided to get the matching trailer...this is a rare pair, and one that will CERTAINLY rise in value. Don't get caught waiting for the right car—it's here now!
